This Chocolate Breakfast Smoothie is rich, creamy, and oh-so-satisfying, your favourite chocolate milkshake, but with a whole lot more goodness inside. Packed with protein, and feel-good ingredients, it’s the kind of breakfast that fuels you and feels like a treat.

High in protein, rich in flavour, and ready in seconds, this smoothie proves that fast can still feel indulgent. It’s your morning pick-me-up, post-gym refuel, and chocolate fix all in one.

Total time: 10m
Servings: 1
Difficulty level: Beginner
Equipment needed: knife, saucepan, wooden spoon, bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 tbsp Free Soul Vegan Protein Blend (Chocolate or Vanilla)
  • 1 tsp cacao powder
  • 1 tsp cacao nibs
  • 1 tsp maca powder
  • 1 tsp almond butter Plant-based milk (enough to blend smoothly)
  • 1 cup ice

How to freeze a banana

Because the best smoothies start with perfectly frozen bananas.

  1. Let your bananas ripen until they’re spotty and sweet.
  2. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  3. Peel your bananas and slice them into 2-inch chunks. This size is both bite-sized and ideal for the blender.
  4. Spread the pieces in a single layer on your tray so they freeze evenly. Pop the tray into the freezer and let it do its thing while you sleep.
  5. Once frozen solid, transfer the pieces into a resealable bag or airtight container. Your bananas will be ready for your smoothies for the next 6 months.

Recipe

  1. It’s as simple as this: Pop everything into your blender and blitz until smooth, thick, and creamy.
  2. Pour into your favourite glass (or shaker if you’re on the go) and sip your way into the day.
